Summer Is HERE!!

Summer is here!  School is almost out and we are all pumped for a great summer vacation.  Long fun days filled with trips to the pool, hanging out with friends and….summer reading assignments?  Wait, what?  Back up…..

We know you all have a required summer reading assignment.  That may not seem like a ton of fun but here at the library we are here to help you complete your assignment AND have a blast doing it!

This summer, sign up for summer reading at the library!  The more you read, the more chances you have to win tons of awesome prizes!  We’ll be hosting so many fun programs at the library this summer you won’t even know what to choose.

Along with our usual Crafternoons every Thursday (now at a NEW time!!), we’ll be playing Minecraft every Wednesday, finding our inner zen with Teen Yoga every Friday, and tons of other awesome special programs throughout the summer!

Check out the Events Calendar on the library website for more details about the programs AND to REGISTER for them!

You MUST register for summer programs you wish to attend.  Don’t worry though, its not a commitment to come, we’ll call you before each program to make sure you can make it.

Make sure you also sign up for Summer Reading!  Anything you read during the summer counts towards your summer reading requirement AND our summer reading prizes!  Each week you could win gift certificates to awesome places like Pizza City, Bromilows, and even free skate passes to Floyd Hall!  We also have awesome grand prizes for anyone who makes it to the end of the summer.  Reading can get you prizes but so can attending programs, volunteering at the library, and other easy things like checking out a music CD or reading a magazine!

Graceling by Kristin Cashore

This month we will be reading Graceling by Kristin Cashore

Our NEXT meeting is JUNE 25th at 4pm!

“Katsa has been able to kill a man with her bare hands since she was eight—she’s a Graceling, one of the rare people in her land born with an extreme skill. As niece of the king, she should be able to live a life of privilege, but Graced as she is with killing, she is forced to work as the king’s thug.

She never expects to fall in love with beautiful Prince Po.

She never expects to learn the truth behind her Grace—or the terrible secret that lies hidden far away . . . a secret that could destroy all seven kingdoms with words alone.”

This action pack-ed adventure has a little bit of everything for everyone.  Romance, action, mystery, magic, everything you could want out of a fantasy book.

Check out the book trailer!

And remember everyone, summer may have just begun but you can  never start your reading assignment too early.  Join our book club! Anything you read with us counts for your summer reading requirement!  You’ll hear great discussions about the books and get some awesome ideas for your reports.
